Do You Have What It Takes?

This is the question of the hour. Do you have what it takes to be a model? Do you have what it takes to be an Actor? Do you have what it takes to be a musician or singer? Do you have what it takes to explore your God given talents and become a success in the field you choose?

These questions are not easy to answer. Lets start by breaking it down to some basic questions.
1.) Do you have a positive and outgoing personality?
2.) Are you a self starter and can motivate yourself?
3.) Are you organized?
4.) Are you responsible and reliable?
5.) Do you enjoy being creative and experiencing new things?
6.) Can you take direction?
7.) Are you photogenic?
8.) Can you take criticism and use it to improve yourself?
9.) Are you able to use rejection as a learning tool?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you are well on your way to entering the modeling or talent field.

Expectations

What do photographers expect from a model and what do models expect from a photographer during a shoot ? I hear many arguments on this subject and after finally getting tired of hearing many photographers and models give their opinion that THEY think is correct I decided to tell you all how it really is in hopes that I can provide a little less friction in this lovely world of the model and fashion photography industry.

Basic Cosmetics

Finding the right foundation can be a challenge even for the best of us. You hear different experts telling you the best way to do it. "Match it to the back of your hand" Match it to your chest" "Match it to your neck". I say find the right color and stick with it. Go to a store that has a make up counter. Have them help you find the color that looks right on you. Then go somewhere else and buy it. (I only say that because I don't believe beauty has to cost an arm and a leg) One thing you want to make certain of though is that your foundation or the powder you use MATCHES YOUR SKIN. When you use a color that is too dark, it is very obvious. You can see it in your pictures. If it is too light, you come across looking ghost like. Take your time and get it right. If you are unsure about how your make up looks, ask another model, the photographer you work with or even your agent. They are all there to help you. We need to put our best face forward and find what really works. And bronzer. . . . Wow, that is a whole other posting! (Just say no unless you have a very light hand).
